The manuscript now has the okay from my editor. The cover is ready to go. All the small things are done. So now I just sit back and relax, right? Oh no. That will never happen. Between now and the publication date at the end of the year is my time to worry about any mistake I missed, should I have done a dialogue line differently, and most likely worry about my family feeling the need to buy a copy of my book so there will be a sale at some point.
Yes. I'm that person who finds reasons to worry even when all is being handled by experts in the publishing industry. I'll be nauseous the first week of publication and get up in the middle of the night to see if anyone has clicked to buy it.
But that's okay. I would rather have done it and still worry rather than never take the chance to write it in the first place. I will always be able to look back and know that I finally wrote that darned book I tried to begin at the age of six. Life sort of got in the way for about fifty years but that's okay too.
I did it. And I must say I'm a little darned proud of it.
